Active Sync & Windows Passwords

We have only a single mobile device in production at present.
Its a blackberry playbook 3g.  Managed by BES10 and using activesync certs.

It looks like when the users password has expired and changed, activesync fails to work.  It doesn't prompt the user to enter it or anything (on the blackberry).

Is this normal?

What can be done about it?

instead of trying to change the password from the pop-up it is preffered to change it from going into  Settings -> Mail, Contacts and Calendars and selecting the Exchange account to update the password.

Thats just it, i don't get a pop up, just emails stop and no notification on the playbook.
We are now using BES10 and activesync.  The BES5 devices are fine...
