I need an easy to use platform for ddrescue

I need an easy to use platform for ddrescue. I am not familiar with Linux but can use it with guidance in a pinch.

I wouid also like to know the main options to select for attempting to recover a failing 100 gb drive to a new 2 tb portable drive.

I got it off the gparted cd however it kept on degrading. Initially I was able to see some files when I finally go to run ddrescue, it wasn't picked up by the bios.

The reason I tried it was because I had a backup up to May so I felt it was worth a shot.

I think the drive was just hot and not perfectly connected to the usb connector so I stopped in case I would need to do a serious recovery.
