WSUS Updates not Working on Clients - 80244018
Hi,
We are having a problem where Windows Updates will no longer work on clients using the WSUS Server, and the Servers (not configured for WSUS) appear not to be working either.
There have been various error codes at stages of my attempts to resolve the issue, but currently there are no proxy pop-ups as before, just a "Code 80244018 Windows Update encountered an unknown error".
As far as I am aware, no fundamental changes have been made to WSUS, the GPO to apply it, the Client PCs, and especially not the Proxy (SQUID run via Client Site Proxy Service and applied to users via Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings and the address specified).
Please note, that me changing the proxy to add exceptions for all suggested Microsoft variants for http://*.microsoft.com etc makes no difference at all, as does removing the proxy entirely and going through default port 80.
Run out of ideas here!
Please advise.
Many Thanks,
Kevin.

Interestingly, When WSUS is operational (i.e. you can contact the server at console level from the WSUS Server), updates don't work at all on the machine in question via WSUS or via Windows Update online - it puts a popup box saying 'Windows Update: Enter the credentials for Proxy Authentication' and doesn't accept any variant of domain\username with password.
When WSUS is uncontactable (IIS Disabled, Website stopped etc), checking online for updates works (only through the proxy though).

Many thanks for your quick reply, we have no firewalls internally, just one through the Proxy Route taken out - so bypassing this via Port 80 (no proxy) and having the same problem might suggest it's not that? Not trying to disagree with you, just asking the question!

Kevin
