I received an interesting issue yesterday when trying to restore a database.  I restored the full just fine, but when I tried to restore the latest diff, I got the following error:

"Unable to create a restore plan due to break in the LSN chain"

This happened in SQL server 2012.  If I do the same restore in SQL 2008R2, with the same files, the diff restore woks fine and I'm able to completely restore the database.

Any ideas?
