Cannot save site as template error. I need to delete a site column but no delete option.

How do I delete a site column from the site column gallery that does not have a delete option when editing the site column and it is not being used in any list on my site collection?

I am getting an error when trying to create a site template - "Error exporting the site field named "Project". The field "Project" resides in the site column gallery under "Compliance Process Support Columns" which is a Fab 40 column. I only have the Knowledgebase solution installed globally on the farm and no other Fab 40 templates. However, I think the columns were migrated over when migrating 2007 to 2010 as I have other site columns from the Fab40 templates there also but no Fab40 content types. I want to delete all Fab40 site columns other than my Knowledgebase items.

The "Resource Type" from another Fab 40 column came up as an error and I was able to delete it (delete option) and then when trying to create the site template again I received the above error on the "Project" column. So I think this will keep coming up as an error until I delete all of these site columns from Fab40.

This column is not part of a list or any "visible" content types I have listed. I checked using SPD. So I cannot enter the list information or content type in the ps script. Also, how do I find out what content type the column is associated with? Like I stated in the first post. These columns migrated over from the Fab 40 templates on my old site and they are not listed in the conent type gallery. I believe these are hidden.
These templates are not installed on my new site collection. I only see the site columns listed.
These are the offending Fab40 site column groups:
Absence and Vacation Schedule Fields
Compliance Process Support Columns
Expense Reimbursement and Approval Site Fields
Project Tracking
RER
