2 BESX 5.04 Servers to Same Exchange Migration
We have a BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express 5.04 connected to Exchange 2010 with about 50 users. We just installed a new VM solution so I wish to to install a new BESX 5.04 in this new VM solution. I registered and downloaded BESX 5.04 from RIM with a new SRP. I know how to migrate users but have not come across any documentation on installing a second BESX in the same domain and migrating users so they do not need to re-activate their BlackBerry's.

Thanks Mike, definitely a good start, but can both run at the same time or do i have migrate all users in shot and make necessary firewall changes? Not sure if there is an option to set one as master.

Installing the second server is child's play. The domain prep work is already done so you just need to ensure the server is ready for the installation. BESAdmin needs to be a local Admin and needs the Logon As A Service privilege.
Install the software with a NEW database instance. Don't try to re-use the old one.
Once the server is installed and ready, download the BlackBerry Transporter tool. Install and run it either on the old or the new server.
The Transporter tool handles the migration. You just have to point it to the old server and the new server, show it where to find the database instances and select your users to move. The users are moved 'on the fly' so they don't need to be recalled and reactivated.
It's not a complicated or scary process once you get started.
