Window 2000 server in a SBS2011 domain DNS Errors

I have a Windows 2000 server in a SBS2011 domain getting this Event Error 4000. Message delivery to the remote domain 'xxxxxxx.com' failed for the following reason: Unable to bind to the destination server in DNS.

The error started on the day that the Windows 2000 server was taken out of the old SBS2008 domain and placed in the new SBS2011 domain.

I have ensured that all DNS records are in place.
Difference between the domains is that the SBS2008 domain had Exchange 2007. The new SBS2011 does not have Exchange, we are using Microsoft Hosted Exchange.

Any ideas.

It sounds like the 2000 server has an SMTP server running on there, and the server probably was configured to relay to the old SBS2008 server.

You will need to modify the SMTP server running on the 2000 server to relay to a valid server.

How do I modify the SMTP server running on 2000 server?
SMTP is handled by IIS with this version of Windows. While I haven't used a Windows 2000 machine in a while (a very, very long long time, I won't lie), you should be able to find Internet Services Manager under All Programs.

Once that is open, I'd look around under the Domain section to see if you have any forwarding/smart-hosting configured in there.
