All ports timeout (blocked) despite no firewall -- how to get DynDns working?

Hello All,

I am setting up a web server on my little LAN that I want to give the public (friends) access to it.

Configuration:
ISP: Comcast
Cable Modem: Arris TG862
Router: Assus RT-AC66R

Windows 7
IIS 7
DynDns client has been added.

OK, I have dyndns client running on my Windows 7 server.  I have IIS running.  Localhost is running fine for port 80 and I even added port 82.

The dnydns says that I have IP address 50.xxx.yyy.zzz
I ran ipconfig and it shows my local address as 192.xxx.yyy.zzz

I can access the site using the local address on the host computer, but I can't use the dnydns address from anywhere including the host computer.

I used www.whatsmyip.org to scan my ports, and found that all the ports "Timeout" (blocked).

I turned off the firewall for the devices in the chain : cable modem, router, windows, and virus protection. I thought this would allow at least a baseline for working -- no luck.

Somewhere, my request is being blocked and I'd like to hear your advice.

ASKER

Thanks for your prompt response.

I am not a network guy. I'm a programmer.  Can you point me to resource that will break this down more simply?

So Comcast is blocking port 80?  No one is running a Web Server on their residential network?

It's possible, it may be even likely, but I would like it confirmed.

Please advise...

This is troubling.

I called comcast and paid for their higher level technical support and the technician clearly said that port 80 was not being blocked and is open.  He verified my settings, but somehow we still couldn't go from the external - public internet - back to my server.

So there are at least two obvious possibilities: 1. the port is closed despite what the tech said. or 2. I just can't get my network configured for my server properly.  Since I'm not a networking expert and very much a novice, both possibilities are very possible.

Thanks for your prompt responses.
Apologies was away most of the weekend...

So you have not setup NAT/Port Forwarding on the router then? Cause without that this isn't going to work...so if your ISP is saying nothing is blocked you need to do that bit at least...

Here's a guide from Youtube for that exact router...

Have a look at that and see if it helps
Update!!!

I got it to work.  I have configured one of my computers on my personal network with IIS 7, and is can host a simple website.

How did I do it?

Hint, and this is the biggest key -- get rid of all Comcast equipment on your cable internet!

I spent over $300 on equipment alone this weekend to see if I could get this to work, and it worked!!  I'm confident that I could have only spend $100 or even $75, but I had to buy the best stuff, within reason, because I have to learn this stuff for work.

Thanks guys for all your help.
