Hi

Kindly explain the effect and why the below warning is produced by Exchange server and what should be done to avoid this warning again.

Log: Application
Type: Error
Event: 9385
Alert Time: 2013-08-19 13:06:59Z
Event Time: 07:36:21 AM 19-Aug-2013 UTC
Source: MSExchangeSA
Category: General
Username: N/A
Computer: EMMVEE-EX.EMMVEE.IN
Description: Microsoft Exchange System Attendant failed to read the membership of the universal security group ''''/dc=IN/dc=EMMVEE/ou=Microsoft Exchange Security Groups/cn=Exchange Servers''''; the error code was ''''8007203a''''. The problem might be that the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant does not have permission to read the membership of the group.

If this computer is not a member of the group ''''/dc=IN/dc=EMMVEE/ou=Microsoft Exchange Security Groups/cn=Exchange Servers'''', you should manually stop all Microsoft Exchange services, run the task ''''add-ExchangeServerGroupMember,'''' and then restart all Microsoft Exchange services.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

This is a rights issue or missing information, to solve it:

Add the server (EMMVEE-EX.EMMVEE.IN) to the Exchange Servers security group using the Exchange Management Console.

Note - (If this computer is not a member of the Exchange Servers security group, stop all Microsoft Exchange services, add this computer to the Exchange Servers security group, and then restart all Microsoft Exchange services or reboot the system.)

Also mention what will be the effect if the server (EMMVEE-EX.EMMVEE.IN) is not added in MS Exchange security group.

Hi again,

No effect when it is added to the security group unless you are using the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant.

What OS are you using?
dhanush_supportAuthor Commented:
Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition 64 bit SP1.

The server has been added to below mentioned groups

Domain Controllers
Exchange Install Domain Servers
Exchange Servers
Exchange Trusted Subsystem
Exchange Windows Permissions

Kindly assist me for which group I need to add still.

To resolve this error, do one or more of the following:

Verify that the computer is part of the Exchange Servers security group. If this computer is not a member of the Exchange Servers security group, stop all Microsoft Exchange services, add this computer to the Exchange Servers security group, and then restart all Microsoft Exchange services.

If you are not already doing so, consider running the tools that Microsoft Exchange offers to help administrators analyze and troubleshoot their Exchange environment. These tools can help you make sure that your configuration is in line with Microsoft best practices. They can also help you identify and resolve performance issues, improve mail flow, and better manage disaster recovery scenarios. Go to the Toolbox node of the Exchange Management Console to run these tools now. For more information about these tools, see Toolbox in the Exchange Server 2007 Help.
