Server 2003 DNS

I have a Server 2003 AD Domain, my server and domain users can not load dropbox.com. The server resolves the correct IP when pinging dropbox.com and if we put the IP address in the browser address bar dropbox.com load, but if we enter dropbox.com in the address bar all browsers (IE, Firefox and Chrome) will not display page.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

so name resolution works for dropbox.com
you should be able to use http://www.dropbox.com in your browsers since the name resolution works.

Hi,

Are you using a web proxy at all?

If so, my suspicion would fall there, since you are resolving ping / nslookup correctly, but those may not be proxied.

Please can you:

1.

check whether your browser(s) have a proxy set;

2.

confirm whether your network / domain forces a proxy (if you know - it could be transparent); and

3.

post the output of a tracert from your machine to www.dropbox.com.
Thanks,

Alan.

Why using only root hints??

Use forwarders too and then check.

Thank you, although neither expert provided the final solution, each helped me validate and/or exclude possible causes. Ultimately leading me to discover a very specific filter setting on out firewall content filter configuration. Thanks again.
