Xerox Documate 262 scanner twain

Have a Xerox Documate 262 scanner. Setting it up for client to use for specific program. When I install the drivers I specifically tell it to install Twain. When I open the program the scanner is there, but showing the WIA driver, which will not work with their software.

I've uninstalled and re-installed several times, but can't get rid of the WIA and get the Twain.
Is there a manual way to get rid of the WIA??

Computer is windows 7 Pro 32bit Dell OptiPlex 360
Fresh load of Windows

There's no reason to get rid of WIA...TWAIN and WIA can (and should) co-exist. In addition, the DocuMate 262 provides an ISIS driver, generally superior to TWAIN (and TWAIN is generally superior to WIA), all of which can co-exist peacefully on the same system. For example, here's a screenshot from an imaging package showing the available scanners on the W7 machine where I'm writing this post:
ISIS TWAIN WIA drivers on same W7 systemI'm not saying this is the permanent solution, but as a troubleshooting step, I suggest installing IrfanView, excellent (free!) imaging software that I've been using for many years:
http://www.irfanview.com/

Click the Download link on the left to download IrfanView and click the PlugIns link on the left to download the PlugIns, which are needed to give you PDF capability (it's optional...only if you want PDF support...and the other features that come with the PlugIns). Install IrfanView first, then install the PlugIns (again, it's optional, but I think it's a good idea).

When you run IrfanView, click the File menu and pick [Select Scan/TWAIN Source...]. You should see both TWAIN and WIA drivers, such as this (again, from the machine where I'm writing this post):
IrfanView Select SourceLet me know what your system shows. Regards, Joe

One other thing. You said, "will not work with their software." What software are they using? Does it support ISIS?

The software is Drake Tax and Drake's Document Manager, which will only use Twain driver scanners

10 Tips to Protect Your Business from Ransomware

Did you know that ransomware is the most widespread, destructive malware in the world today? It accounts for 39% of all security breaches, with ransomware gangsters projected to make $11.5B in profits from online extortion by 2019.

Joe Winograd, Fellow&MVEDeveloperCommented:
OK, so try IrfanView as I suggested above and let me know if the Select Source dialog shows a TWAIN source for the DocuMate 262. If it does show it, try to do a scan via File>Acquire/Batch Scanning and let me know if it works. This will help to determine if the problem is in the Drake software or the DocuMate driver installation.

Another point: If you're using an installation CD or DVD, I recommend downloading the latest driver from the Xerox website:
http://www.xeroxscanners.com/en/us/products/DM262/drivers.asp

The media shipped with a scanner often contains old drivers and you're much better off downloading the latest-and-greatest from the manufacturer's website. Also, note this comment at the Xerox site:
You must uninstall your current driver and OneTouch software to install an updated driver.

Have you tried IrfanView? Have you installed the latest driver from the Xerox website?

If Drake Tax and Drake's Document Manager work with TWAIN drivers, then they should work with the Xerox DocuMate 262, which has a TWAIN driver. My guess is that the latest driver from the Xerox website will solve the problem, but we'll never know unless we hear back from the Asker. If we don't hear back, then delete it. Regards, Joe
