Employee Tracking Software

Hello,

I am the IT Manager for a midsize engineering firm.  We have about 130 employees.  My boss recently came to me asking if there is some sort of software we could use to keep track of employees when they leave the office.  Ideally I would like something we could install on a computer and leave it sitting by the door.  When an employee leaves, they enter where they are going on the computer and when they plan to be back.  This information would be updated in real time and available to myself and anyone else we choose.

I have done some searching online, but have not come up with anything so far.  Any ideas?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

or many other paid solutions available....

Or for a group we had I made a google site and put an embedded google doc spreadsheet on it where people can check themselves in / out.

Do some research into network based in-out boards.  There are plenty out there. One such product is Whos-In Pro from HudSoft:  http://www.hudsoft.com/

Have a look at HYDRA-PZE/PEP:

http://www.mpdv-usa.com/module_pze.html

It's a german company, present in some other countries like China,  Malaysia, India etc.

Don't know if they're present in the U.S., though.
