"Only secure content is displayed" message ?

What's the meaning behind the message displayed in IE when visiting a https site?

"Only secure content is displayed. What's the risk?"

The site is a Drupal 7 site, with a self-signed certificate.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Anything that is not coded for  https is not showing.

Example, you are on https and the image is coming from <img src="http://someplace/image.jpg"> will throw this error.  This could be the same for any external file such as javascript or css files.

As padas said above, it is because you have elements on your page that are hard-coded to http when the rest of the page is loading in https. The http elements are not secure. It's probably an image or another file you've hard-coded. Avoid this situation by using relative links. For example, use "/path/to/image.jpg" rather than "http://mysite.com/path/to/image.jpg". This will cause the browser to use either http or https depending on how the user loads the page.

IE Tools|Internet Options|Security tab|Internet tab|Custom Level|under Miscellaneous set "Display Mixed Content" to Enable rather than Prompt or Disable.

Agree with padas and arrow_1. Other than images, i've had this happen before because of modules that link to other sites. Many of the social share modules do this, I had this problem so much I just started building my own social links. Also had it happen by loading things from a CDN, most of which have a https version of whatever you are loading. Widgets for weather, eventbrite - that sort of thing if you are using any, can also cause this problem. Fixes depend on what is causing the problem.
