FAS250 IP Address


We are using FAS250

everything was working fine by mistake i changed its IP address and hit Apply
the IP address that i changed to was of our AD1
Now i cannot access the admin console
and i cannot access the data on filer
i cannot even ping it by providing the actual name of it
how can i access to change the IP address back to the actual one?
help please :(

I think the only option at the moment is using a serial cable connected to the console port on the storage system. There should be one supplied with the box if I'm not mistaking.

Are you using the vif-setup?  If yes, you might need to take a look at the rc and hosts files on the storage device, if you adjust settings there you might gain access again. After that you will need to use the ifconfig command ... That's how it works for another FAS model I had to configure once...

but i hate these serial connection type things
once serial port is connected to pc how i will proceed
i dont have an ip address?

You can use a program like putty http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

You use this to connect to the console, you don't need an IP-address, it uses serial to connect.
