How VMware works ?

Dear Experts,

Recently I have found a word Of VMware and google it for searching its articles.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=VMW+Profile

What my understanding is VMware is company helping users to do its
clouding computer networks or access VMware clouding computer networks
to share application software resource with different computer system or network

There is many software for free trial and download
http://www.vmware.com/ap/try-vmware.html

My question is could you make me a concept example or case how VMw works or
what service he provides to the users.

For example, when we are talking about XAMPP server, we will know it is
apache server that be used on Window and Linux , XAMPP can let web users
to set his own computer as web server so that other users can web its home page,
some thing like, So this example is easy to understand what is XAMPP server

Could you make me such example so that for example, when I downoad one software
from VMW, I will understand what is for ? in the link, there are too many software, let
people confused.

Good article and tutorial for the concept of VMW is welcome

Please advise

VMware produces Hypervisor based software, that allows you to HOST multiple computers, concurrently at the same time on a single Intel computer.

You can actually RUN, many computers at a time, on your computer!

using the following:-

VMware Player 5.0 Free Download [FREE]
http://www.vmware.com/go/downloadplayer/

but you still need to use the Operating System original installation media, and have additional Operating System licenses to do it, if required.

e.g. you have a laptop running Windows 7, you can then install VMware Player, and have Windows XP, Windows 8 and Windows Vista all running at the same time.
Also, virtualization is used extensively on the server end of IT. Modern server hardware is capable of running multiple, virtualized, operating systems at the same time. One server we have where I work concurrently runs six installs of Windows Server at the same time.
From firebar & hanccooka's reply

VMwarre has VMware player software in which users can host mutilple computers
that means user can run different or many system platforms such as Window xp, window
7, visita at the same time in one single computer from that user seems to connect
to many computer but not in real just by virtually in single computer

Is it correct ?

What other major bussinness of VMware is focusing on ? just VMware play is major bussiness to them ?

Is VMware related to clouding computer ?

Please advise kindly
VMware does have a sizable cloud component in it's server and VDI products, but to describe them all here is impractical. One of the cloud offering is VDI where desktop computers, running Windows or Linux, can be made available from the cloud in a "Desktop As A Service" platform. VDI is my job at work...
