Custom Meta Data Tags in MP3 Files ?

Is there some fairly easy way to add one or more custom meta data tags or fields to MP3 files ? Will iTunes allow one to create custom fields (or rename existing fields) in MP3 files ?

Not with iTunes, but you can use Audiograil and a multitude of other programs like it:

While the custom fields and metadata will be in the files, it won't be accessible by iTunes specifically, which is pretty rigid in terms of the fields it pays attention to.

Hi  LGroup1
I use Winamp
http://www.winamp.com/
http://www.winamp.com/media-player/all
Drop all your mp3 onto the playlist editor
then right click one  and more info, here you can add the meta data use id2 id3 tags and put in any info
or use the auto tag, I have highlighted an entire folder and used the auto tag.
view file infoYou can either add your meta data here or use the auto tag
Auto tagscanningnew tag with name etcTo truely add meta data this usually done when ripping an audio Cd and then the data is seen when highlighting the mp3
