Two menus are getting 404 errors. Help!

Hello experts, I have a problem.  We have our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kids Martial Arts menus under our "Classes" menus that result in a 404 error.  I am not sure how long this has been going on, on our Joomla 2.5.6 site but I must fix it pronto.  I see the kids article is a single article that exists.  I see the BJJ and Striking menu is linked to a category that exists.  Do you guys have any idea how I can fix this??  Thanks so much!

Have you tried re-making those menu items? Sometimes when an article is renamed or recategorised, the menu link does not update properly. See if you can make new menu items for the 404 pages and if that works, delete the old menu items and put your new ones in their place.

Also, make sure that no-one has changed the permissions for those articles. If you link to an article that is not public then you may get that error.

I've started with the Kids Martial Arts (which is a single article).  It has public access.  I deleted the Kids Martial Arts and recreated the menu.  This is really weird and unfortunately these are my two most hit pages.  If there is anything else you suggest let me know.  Thanks in advance.

Can you post a link to the site?

Another thing to try - Under global configuration -> Site -> SEO settings, if you deactivate search engine friendly URLs, does the problem go away?

Also, check that the categories that don't show up are set to public as well.

Lol, sorry guys.  Here is the link to the site.  http://strongheartacademy.com

Article and Category both are listed as public.

I tried changing the "Kids Martial Arts" to the Sample-Articles category that I know works on the menu for another article.  This is baffling to me.  Thanks again guys and ladies.

Hmmm. It's a bit hard to tell from the front end. You may have moved the kids classes article to the sample-articles category (which I noticed worked) but that menu item still points to classes/kids-martial-arts

Is the alias for the Kids martial arts article still kids-martial-arts?

Are you using the joomla  seo extension SH404sef in your website?

Also do you have cache turn on or off in your global configuration settings.  If it is turned ON at least temporarily turn it off while you test different "fixes".

Also check your article "trash" (and I think maybe) menu trash.  Delete those trash items.

BTW it is a good thing to back up your site before you make too many changes. I use akeebabackup.  I backup often when I am troubleshooting a site.  Sometimes many times within a half hour / hour period just to have something to fall back on.

Hey, I found out what it is.  There was a bad JEvents Monthly events module plugged into the page.  I disabled it and the pages come up now.  Thanks for responding so quickly.

Good!   Now that it is all working, make sure you backup your site, if you are not already doing that. Use Akeebabackup often!  (no need to include me in any points here. I'm a latecomer to this question.)

BTW -- it's a very nice site!

Excellent. Glad you found it. I agree with Rowby - the site gives the impression that the martial arts school is a happening place to be, with plenty of interesting things going on.
