iPhone silent. Sounds options?

My iPhone doesn't ring or make all game sounds.
The speaker works, because when I test the ringtone volume, I can hear it.
How are all the ways I can disable sounds, for ringing, texts and apps?
Thanks

There is a slide switch on the left side near the top that turns off the sound.

Near the top of the iPhone. On the side.

It is a physical switch on the side of the body of the iPhone, not an electronic switch on the screen

I know. The sound works because I can hear the ring test in the ring type selection screen.
What doesn't work is the sound when someone phones me, texts me, or I play diamond dash.

Check the switch position. If it is down and shows red, then sound is off.

I don't see red

Try changing the switch position, then dial your phone from a different phone.

Tried again, got someone to phone me. No ring sound, just vibrating.

I could hear the person normally on speaker phone.

The mp3 player can play music audibly. The ring test plays the ring tone audibly.

It is perfectly audible, except when someone phones me. - just vibrating.

Thx

Still not right.

Music player makes sound.
Phone calls only vibrate, no ring tone. The settings are all logical to make sound when called.
Other ideas for no sound when called, if phone definitely can make sound?

Thanks

Dumb iPhone trick. Take a pair of ear buds and plug them in the iPhone. reboot the iPhone by holding the Home button and the (I'm not sure what it's called) top Right button simultaneously until it shut down. Turn the device back on and when you see the home screen unplug the ear buds. Hopefully this works for you.

The casing they firmed over the outside of the phone doesn't allow headphone plugin.
Anyway, the phone can make audible sound.

I believe its the ringer volume button causing the problem:

Remove the earphone if attached, put iPhone in unlocked position, and raise the volume. See attached pics.
Is the ringer volume too low? if yes raise and it wl solve the issue .

If not :

If it shows only ringer as in 2.jpg that means you don't have earphones jack jam/dust  issue.

If it still shows as 3.jpg that means the earphone jack need to be cleaned. Just use an ear bud immersed in Isopropyl alcohol and rotate it inside the earphone jack and remove if there is any dust particles it wd show up and cleans and should be fine.

let me know

The iPhone makes sound, sound / earpiece isn't the problem.

I have all the settings in settings page logical to make sound, volume up.
The phone plays music.

But it makes no sound when texted or phoned.

Ok.. have you installed any volume boost app recently? possible that this app could corrupt the sound files.
try uninstalling and see. Or if u remember that after installing an app this ringer was stopped , try uninstall that app and check again.

I also suggest you reset all the settings.
Settings -> General -> Reset and choose Reset All Settings.

It will not erase any data like contacts, photos, calender etc, will not be effected by doing this.

Embarrassed.
I went to the AT&T store.
She removed the outer shell.
Apparently, an iPhone still makes sound, even if the ringer switch (which I thought was the volume on/off, is set to off. I had no clue :) The volume switch is only an on/off for the ringer, so the phone is really set to vibrate.

Well, at least I got a new, clean outer shell, with no shattered edges.
thanks
