Cant view existing Reports

Hello,

I have one user only who cannot open any of their existing reports...

More info.
The user can open the report and see it in design view, but as soon as they try to preview it (or refresh it), ...It just hangs
This is for all of the reports in their own network folder (we tried about 10 varied reports of different complexity and a wide rang of dates)

If they move the report to a shared Network folder, then use another person's machine, then they can view the report.

The kicker is that the user can create and view New reports.

The odd thing is that they claim that this issue started being intermittent about two weeks ago.

Any Ideas?

I am on my way to see them now and will see if I can get any more info if you need it...

Thanks!

mlmcc,

Here is exactly what I did...
created a new blank report
Selected the data-source (OLEDB...)
Then created a report and it opened viewed and refreshed fine
I then opened an existing report and did the "Verify database"
I also cleaned out their temp folder (which BTW had quite a few files and folders containing "CR" in the names...)
.....hmmmmmm

Then the reports started working again...

So it all seems good for now.....

They also stated that the default printed *Had* been changed recently, but since all is good now, ...I just want to know what the default printer may have had to do with this issue...?

Crystal uses the printer driver to create the preview of the report on the screen.  If you change the default printer driver and the report will look for the old printer driver.  At some point the search will time out and the report will use the default driver.

It may be that the old default driver was the driver the report was built with thus it found it quickly.

WHen askers upload a rpt file for me to look at, it will take anywhere from 1-3 minutes (sometimes even longer) to time out and give me a message that the report printer cannot be found and the default printer will be used.  It may be that it was just waiting to timeout on finding the printer.

Crystal Reports

Crystal Reports is a business intelligence application from SAP SE. It is used to graphically design data connections and report layouts from a wide range of data sources including Excel spreadsheets, Oracle, SQL Server databases and Access databases, BusinessObjects Enterprise business views, and local file-system information. Report designers can place fields from these sources on the report design surface, and can also deploy them in custom formulas (using either BASIC or Crystal's own syntax), which are then placed on the design surface. Crystal Reports also supports subreports, graphing, and a limited amount of GIS functionality.
