When I run a sql query to select records from a db / table that resides on a different server from the one I am connected to, I get the error :

I am logged in with my windows credentials and I have access to both th servers.

One of the SQL server is 2012 and the other 2008 would that cause any problems?
Never tried that, but it shouldn't be an issue; the issue here is the permission.
We use SPNs on all our environments
are the 2 sql servers part of the same domain?
is your login (windows login) also defined on the other server?
what is the linked servers configuration in the login mapping tab?
is the local sql server service account "local system" or a domain account?
