Google Chrome on XP service pack 3

I have a Dell laptop (older model) with XP service pack 3 installed.  I can install Google Chrome without a problem.  However, when I try to open it nothing happens.  I can not resolve a page and I can't get to the setting either?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is your Internet connection active? Do your other browsers (such as IE) work?

Are you running the official SP3 or one of the Release Candidates (RC2)?

Official SP3: MS Article ID: 322389.

You can also try Chrome Beta, which is reportedly working better with XP than the official releases: Chrome Beta.

Also, just because I am curious in nature...  Any reason you are sticking with XP?

If installed correctly there's an error log file for Chrome on your computer at:
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\debug.log
That should have captured why Chrome isn't launching.

I would make sure XP is as up-to-date as it can be and try the latest build of Chrome. Sometimes reinstalling the program can be very helpful. Does this happen under another user account or just yours?

I'm running the current version of Chrome on XP SP3 without any problems on 10 different computers.  So in general terms, it works fine.
