Hello Experts,

I'm having problem installing the jdk-1_5_0_19-windows-i586-p.exe in our server (MS Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1). The installation hangs and refuses to complete  Have confirmed that the following IE settings are configured...

Thanks Seth2740/ve3ofa but not sure if it was the downloaded version coz when i run the installer locally on my machine it was successful. The fact of the matter is that i already installed it in a couple of different server (same OS version) few months back.

Why are you trying to install an outdated and insecure version?
This was specified by our developer who developed our app few years back.
It would be quite a feat to develop an app that runs on jdk 5 but not jdk 7. In any case, since you're installing a jdk and not a jre, it implies compilation so, presumably you'll be recompiling anyway?
Actually its both since the app requires both jdk and jre. As for recompiling i would presume but have to confirm with developer. Just a short note our app we developed in UK sometime 2007 and we're adopting it just now. Thus the reason i presume the developer suggest to use the old version.

Just a short note our app we developed in UK sometime 2007 and we're adopting it just now 6 years later? HUH!!! The internet has changed immensely since then!
I agree ve3ofa, but note they started the development 2007 and deployed to prod two years later and we're supposed to have it earlier but due to some constraints have to delay till now.
And unfortunately source codes are still based on the start of development though. Anyway, we're trying to  run the installer again on a freshly set-up MS Server 2008 R2 (without MS updates) and see how it goes.
You don't need an old jre for an old app

Cause of the issue not resolved but somehow workaround worked (reinstalling OS without any updates) before JRE and JDK.
