Help with displaying data in MS Report using an RDLC file with VB.NET

I am displaying data in my report from a data table, How do display my data in sperated lines in a cell when separated by ";". For example my data source contains: Item1;Item2;Item3. I would like to display:

Item1
Item2
Item3

instead.

Thanks,

Victor

Is MS Report the same as Report Designer in Visual Studio (SSRS in SQL Server)?

If so and you have a fixed number of columns like:

Item1;Item2;Item3

to be displayed as:

Item1
Item2
Item3

do this: a) select the first row you have and then b) insert a row below it and then c) repeat item "b" on more time for the third row.

Now move (select/cut) txtItem2 from its horizontal place to paste it under txtItem1 in the second row. Do the similar thing for Item3.

Now the data will show as you want. But most likely, there is more to this. If so, then upload your sql here to be looked at. At lease tell us

1. How many columns would it be (fixed number or would vary)?
2. Single row or would vary?
3. Only one data field or many (Item1;Item2;Item3 is considered one field)?

I'm sure if they are the same, but there is more to it, rows will have different number of items, therefore can not add fix value of rows.

For example following three rows display:
Item1;Item2;Item3,Item4;Item5
Item1;Item2;Item3
Item1;Item2;Item3,Item4

Thanks,

V.

Where your data is located? Could it be imported to SQL Server?

If so, one can build a stored procedure to prepare the data the way you want to be displayed.

You did not answer to the 3rd question. All you have is ItemNumber? No other fields I guess?

Hi,

I have many data fields with the same situation, I'm using XML as my data source. I'm using the table control to load the data.

Can you upload it with some mock or sample data?

vcharlesAuthor Commented:
Unfortunately I can only send you the RDLC file not the other source files.

You can upload it and I will try to make a sample xml file based on your description.
