How can I re-size quick launch on SharePoint 2010 & How can I hide Site Content!

1) How can I re-size quick launch on Sharepoint 2010?

I have enabled tree view for the document library which need more room on the quick launch to get the full view for the users!

2) How can I hide certain heading like Site Content from the Sharepoint?

3) Main page loading takes time for the first time (1 min)! How can I fine tune?

Thanks

Thanks for your response Rainer.

Please accept my apology for posting 3 question in one!

I am very new to SharePoint and my knowledge to programming is 0 !
So please help me with clarity...

1) How do I add this code ? using SP designer? And on v4.master or default.master page?

2) Same - How and where do I add this code?

3) This is completely new page with TEAM site!
Hi,
that depends a little bit on your environment, software development processes and operational processes. If you have no dev or test environment but just a small SharePoint farm, then you can use SharePoint designer to add the style to the master page (in the head section).
Normally (no upgraded SharePoint farm) its the v4.master.

Otherwise (having SharePoint server) you can create a custom style sheet file and create a SharePoint solution with one feature with a custom master page (copy of v4.master) and the style sheet, which will during feature activation set the new custom master page as default master page.

Which SharePoint version and edition do you use?

For the last, hm thats really strange. You will have to use additional tools to track down what files/content is loaded and to see the requests/responses - like Fiddler or Firefox with Firebug add-on.

Hi,
SharePoint 2010 Server or SharePoint 2010 Foundation?

Simply run SharePoint Designer 2010 (download: SPD 2010 with SP2 x86 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39649).
Then follow these steps (using the above posted styles):
