database creation

Hi Experts,

I want to create a database for my invoices.
I want to use a browser and enter my data to it and all is saved.
But I have no big knowledge about programming.
What can you recommend to create an easy db, which I can use always online ?
I have a small homepage with Joomla and I have heared I can use some plugins.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This is something I do on a regular basis, although not with php or joomla.  Based on what you are saying, you would be best off with a 3rd party invoice service/app.

Look at

There are going to be plug ins for joomla (or most any large cms)  However, before choosing any of these, it would be best to hear from somebody that has used them and do your research.  Plug ins can sometimes leave an unknown security hole.  The main thing is to keep joomla up to date and any plug ins.

Why not just use QuickBooks?  They even have an online version.  If it were my application, I don't think I would want to deal with all of the overhead and security issues of running a web application.

Thnaks for the response.
Maybe it is my fault but I will not send invoices to customers.

It is the other way around, I want to store or save my receipt or bills on a server.
So when I am going to buy soemthing I get an receipt.
And this receipts I want to write down in a db.

Are you talking about paper receipts?  Where you would need to scan, then store the scanned file?
Eprs_AdminSystem ArchitectAuthor Commented:
yes all the paper receipts which you get when you buy food or drinks or clothes.
But just scanning is not enough for me.

later on I want to check different categories like Fuel, Clothes, Shopping, etc.
If there is a tool for scanning and categorizes it, this would also help me.

But later on I also need an overview about the categories.

There are 3rd party apps that do this as well

They have 5 ways to get your receipts from mobile to snail mail.

It integrates with quickbooks and others such as freshbooks, myob, evernote....

What you want could be done with custom programming as well if you really wanted to use your own server.  There are a lot of moving parts and security concerns.  The 3rd party app is the way to go.

+1 for that excellent advice!  And good luck with your project, ~Ray
