How prevent my default search engine from being changed
Every time I turn around my default search engine in Chrome gets changed. Usually to something like Delta search. I reset things and then, in the next day or two it changes again. I don't know how they do it, but I wish I could prevent it once and for all. I want my search engine to be Google, not Bing or Delta or whatever.

Take a look at installed programs (via Control Panel). Do you see any programs you don't remember installing or do not recognize? Uninstall such program(s).
Does the problem occur in safe mode with networking also?

I have noticed that when I start Chrome, it goes to Google News immediately, which is what I want, but I am given the Delta search engine when I go to another site and then press the home key. For example, lets say I look up a word in merium webster, after I do, and I press the home key, I am taken to Delta Search (which is not what I want)
How do I change the setting in Chrome that sets the default location when home is pressed.?

Delta Search is Malware. See here for advice on how to remove.
First use MalwareBytes

And then if still necessary

Thank you for those detailed instructions. I have followed all the steps and at present I seem to be free of it. However, as the article points out, it may very well come back in. The article suggests the use of Anvi Smart Defender. I am not inclined to use that. My guess it that it competes with what I normally use - Windows Defender. I wish there were some laws to protect against this sort of thing. Altogether it has cost me an hour or more. Very irritating.
I can tell you this. If I ever get a chance to not use Delta Search I will jump on it immediately. They have lost me as a customer indefinitely.

Continue using Windows Defender, if you like. But its protection is the weakest. I'd recommend using a third party antivirus program, such as, Avira free. Not knowing your OS and PC-power, I'd say if you want a low-resource usage cloud-based antivirus, use Panda Cloud Antivirus. I m using Avira on one PC and Panda on another (lower resource) PC.
Use Malwarebytes Antimalware (free) in case an infection occurs or is suspected. Usually I scan with it once in a month or two and find only a clean PC. Once in 6-12 months a mild virus sneaks in and is cleaned.
<An opinion only.>

Thank you
Great. You got it working. :-)
Is there any software installed that can be the one changing the search engine automatically (a Spyware or Malware). Have you checked out the computer with an anti-malware-spyware software?
