Where is Central Administration for my SharePoint 2010?

Hello Experts,

I have a SharePoint Server Farm that I've acquired thru people quitting and I'm not a SP expert, but I'm working on getting to that point some time.  8-)

Anyways, I cannot find Central Administration.  I think it was setup on a different server.  Is there a way to find Central Administration for SP 2010 on Win 7 Enterprise?  I also went thru the Start Menu and could not find it...just an FYI.

Thank you.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,
it depends on your permission on (at least one) SharePoint server of the farm.
You have at least three options, where for two of them I could explain the possibilities:
1. Read a registry key on the server
This key should store the URL of CA:
HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\14.0\WSS\
Key - CentralAdministrationURL

To open remote registry:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732388.aspx

2. Powershell
You could also run this Powershell script, but to use the SharePoint snap-in you would have to have Remote Powershell setup and configured:
Get-spwebapplication -includecentraladministration | where {$_.DisplayName -eq "SharePoint Central Administration v4"} | select Url

How to configure remote powershell:

3. SQL Database
This would be the last option to get it directly from the database. But I have currently no dev system at hand to test and verify.
