Hi,

Can you temporarily disable the firewall?
Ensure that your reverse dns is working.

On the Windows 8 laptop, enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP in Advanced TCP/IP Settings.  See attachment.  Then try to bind to the domain again.

What is the Server OS?

Otherwise try setting up your PC with a static address and try again?

Well, if the client, server, and network are set up correctly, there should be NOTHING to this.  We can't possibly think of all the ways that something may not have been done correctly.  In the end, it may simply be something off with your W8 installation, for which I might recommend a full reinstall to see if it will join the domain; if not, then I suspect there is a network or server configuration issue somewhere, which will be much harder to track down.  Good luck.
