Logs created when moving mailboxes

I wonder if transaction logs get created when moving mailboxes from   Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.
if so , on which  server they get created, and in which location they get created.

for instance, if I have 50 Mailboxes of 1GB each, what would be the number of the logs or size of the logs that get created  after the move?

Thank you

They would be created on the exchange 2010 server. If you don't want to create the logs.
Take a full backup of the exchange 2003 server before mailbox moves.
Enable circular logging on the exchange 2010 server
Do the mailbox moves.
Once the mailbox moves are finished.
Disabled circular logging.
Take a full backup of exchange 2010 server.

you would see it on the 2010 server as data is being added in the database during the mailbox migration

the logs are placed in whatever folder it is configured to be in when you created the database

the log files will total to at least the size of the mailbox after moving it. if you're worried about disk space from the log creation, you could monitor it after doing a couple mailbox moves to gauge roughly the space usage and plan to do a full backup in between somewhere to flush the logs
