I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

i think your after replication not mirroring, mirroring occurs when you do a back up and is only a copy of the backup file.

Replication, synchronizes the 2 databases live as transactions are performed.

If you are concerned about application downtime and highest level of availability then what you need is Database Mirroring with High Availability configured.  This configuration requires two servers with SQL installed (same hardware, OS, SQL version, edition, disk configuration and sql directories, etc.) and a witness server (a computer than can support SQL server).
