password verify function

Where can you actually see what requirements are in a password verify function ? i.e. we see a password policy in an oracle database, that says for PASSWORD_VERIFY_FUNCTION there is VERIFY_FUNCTION, but where actually can you see what is in that verfiy function, i.e. length, complexity rules etc? Where actually are they? Is this another table in the database?
