SMTP service not starting on Exchange 2003 server.

I just recently createed an addtional Exchange 2003 server within my AD. After i installed Exchange and it rebooted the SMTP service does not start. I get the following error in the event log.

that worked! why did I need to add ldap in there? also here is something interesting.

my admin account I used to install Exchange on this server with has a mailbox already on this server?

Yeah, thats by default when installing exchange (admin mailbox).

And its because an update was missed I assume, there was a patch for that so you just did it manually.  Its because the credentials were not passing through to AD.

i thought i downloaded all the updates before i installed Exchange. I loaded Exchange SP2 after i installed it. Maybe i need to run Windows update again to download new patches for Exchange 2003.
