Sharepoint 2010 server link direct

Hi there,
Our server 2008 R2 with sharepoint server 2010 over it has '' as the server name.  Also our users access the sharepoint server 2010 with the same name using ''.  I would like to change it to ''  where and how can I do it without any issues.  
Note:  We own the name ''

Not renaming a domain.  simply want to change the http link in sharepoint 2010.
