Outlook 2013 not finding searched items first time (Exchange 2010)

If we run an Outlook 2013 search on a string not previously searched for it doesn't come up. If we type it in again and rerun the search it does. The backend server is Exchange 2010.

Is this Exchange no auto-updating its Index? Either way what's the fix.

Many thanks, EH

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It could also be an Exchange side issue, where the CI is not indexing / crawling properly.

You can following this article here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123701%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx

The main take away is to try and run Test-ExchangeSearch and see what the outcome is. If all is well, then I would take it as your Outlook client is not indexing properly.
