Exchange 2003 is domain controller and a GC -- Migration issues

can I remove the global catalog(GC) from the domain controller (Old) and make another domain controller the GC.  When ever I try this I lose all mail connectivity?

don't remove GC from that server or you'll break exchange; it is dependent on GC
definitely make the new DC a GC; no harm in having more than one

don't recommend doing anything at the AD level on that box while exchange is installed due to the risk involved.  get exchange off there first before changing AD in any way on that box

Agree, I was able to remove the GC from the Exchange server and since everything has replicated
I seem to be having no issues.
Thank you
