SharePoint 2010: Custom master page is not added to master page gallery through WSP

Hi All

I am trying to deploy a custom master page through WSP deployment

When activating the feature through Site Settings > Site Collection Feature  (through UI) master page is added in master page galley

if the same feature is activated through  shell  the master page is not added in site collection feature

Enable-SPFeature -Identity "e9143dc0-e0d9-4d74-915f-8b20794cc914" -Url SiteCollectionURL

Site collection URL has alternate URL mapping.

ModuleTemplate.xml
Module Element XML is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
  <Module Name="PPMMasterPage" Url="_catalogs/masterpage">
    <File Path="PPMMasterPage\PPMTools.master"  Url="PPMTools.master"  Type="GhostableInLibrary" IgnoreIfAlreadyExists="TRUE" >
    <Property Name="MasterPageDescription" Value="Custom master page for PPM Tools Enhancement site" />
    <Property Name="UIVersion" Value="4" />
    <Property Name="ContentTypeId" Value="0x010105" />
    </File>
  </Module>
</Elements>

Hi Raj,
could you please try to activate the feature using the feature name and not the GUID?
Enable-SPFeature -Identity "FeatureName" -Url https://yoursitecollectionUrl

Hi Rainer

Thanks for your response

I tried using  the feature name and it is not working.
FYI, I am using a HTTP URL for site collection.

Thanks

Hi Raj,

any errors when you activate it through Powershell?
How and where do you execute the Powershell command?
Could you perhaps run the Enable Feature command again and verify afterwards the SharePoint ULS log for any error on that timestamp?

Could you perhaps attach the feature.xml and the exact command you run for activation (with the feature name)?
Is this the only feature in your solution?
Is there any feature event receiver attached?
Could you upload your solution (WSP - renamed to .zip) if not breaking any confidentiality / IP rule?

I had once an issue where activating through STSADM did not run as the feature receiver contained a call to SPContext - which is not existing on the command line.

Closing this issue.
There was another web part which was not removed correctly while uninstalled. Removing the WSP folder manually  from templates  folder ( under 14  folder ) solved the issue.

Thanks
