systems administration disciplines

I wondered whether there is any specific discipline of server management that covers the following. Stuff like ensuring their is sufficient storage left – capacity monitoring and management. Ensuring the system is patched in line with policy – patch management. Ensure backups have ran ok – continuity management.

But what about technical configuration of a system, i.e. making sure the server has all the appropriate management clients on it, and technical configuration is aligned with corporate policy – does that kind of administration fall into any specific discipline or systems management/administration? If so, which?

I would say that would fall more under the role of a system compliance than system administration. In certain sectors and industries there are very specific regulations like hipaa, sox, disa stig.

Alot of government entities and contractors have positioned solely dedicated to system compliance.
