Sumif between two dates

I have some data, one column has amounts, another has dates, im looking for some formula to sum if between two dates, the dates will be entered into cell C5 & C6, the ranges are columns E (amounts) & N (dates)

Something like this should work in 2010

=SUMIFS(E:E,N:N,">=" & C5,N:N,"<=" & C6)

Earlier than 2007 try:

If you can specify the ranges either by using table refs or by E1:E999 7 N1:N999 this will speed things up somewhat.
