I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There is no single or ideal approach for cloud testing due to the fact that there exists different factors such as cloud architecture design, non-functional and compliance requirements, etc., which need to be taken into account.

Cloud testing is a form of software testing in which web applications use cloud computing environments (a "cloud") to simulate real-world user traffic. At least this is what wiki contribution shared out, I see no difference from the typical SDLC tests but main thing is effectiveness and efficiency in cost and coverage.

Maybe a good ways is to post it to the experienced and diehard tester linkedin group
An evolving cloud testing community is forming under the auspices of the Software Testing & Quality Assurance group hosted by LinkedIn. Testing professionals openly share their experiences and exchange ideas related to cloud testing in order to enhance each other's proficiencies.

There are top ten mentioned here and looks like most have stated Soasta and HP loadrunner

Depends on what you want to test. SOASTA is a good tool for applications that is also in cloud as you can specify locations for which you want to trigger request to come from. SOASTA also offers customizable reports which enables you to generate graphs based on your results for easier presentation.

What's good with SOASTA is that if you are not using the grids to load test, your user hours are considered FREE. If your test require the use of Grids then that is only when you will be charged.

SOASTA offers Free trial to help you evaluate their tool prior to purchasing any license.
