I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

There are no formal prerequisites for CCIE certification. Other professional certifications or training courses are not required. Instead, candidates must first pass a written qualification exam and then the corresponding hands-on lab exam. You are expected to have an in-depth understanding of the topics in the exam blueprints and strongly encouraged to have three to five years of job experience before attempting certification.

There is nothing called a best material for ccie.  Zest is: you need to know a concept e.g ospf. It's up to you from where you take ospf knowledge. It can be books, youtube videos, cisco.com, paid training or blogs. Whatever suits you.

There is only one procedure for ccie preparation.

Download the ccie blueprint. Click every point, and start reading. You need to understand it, so get it from anywhere. You need to decide what suits you the best.

e.g  I am not comfortable with books. I browse for a topic and keep reading multiple sources, watch videos, check cisco.com pdf's,  till I am satisfied that I know the technology now.
Then I just simulate what I learnt in GNS3 simulator.

Please note that the exam is not extraordinary. IT's a normal exam. Candidates cannot/do not give their 100% in preparation. Hence the myth is all about CCIE toughness. If you are determined and take time in learning the blueprint HONESTLY, in a focussed way, you should fly in the exam.

Best,

Yes, GNS3 will serve most purposes. There are portions of the lab that will require some specific configurations for 3560 switches though. For that you could rent rack time from a lap test lap provider such as IPexpert or INE.com.

While the Written portion of the exam is not extraordinary, I wouldn't venture to say that the lap is. That is why there are a lot of CCIE's worldwide. The lab takes a HUGE amount of preparation, study, and practice time. The two sites I mentioned above are good places for preparation as well as Narbick.

I would go for rack rentals. It will save me a lot of money.

Yeah, you can use GNS3 for almost all of your prep, then use the rack rentals to brush up on the switching for the 3560's.

Hi,
You can download and add different switches IOS and router in GNS3. Then create networks in GNS3 easy to understand things like flow control, commands etc.Once you familiar with command and configuration attend the class in good institute.I don't think it is very easy exam.Only few people get certified in first attempt.

This only may opinion.

Thank you.
