Urgent: VSS stuck
We are trying to backup remotely a server through Idera´s software CDP.
The problem is that the VSS service on Windows Server although stopped and rebooted (O.S. and service) cannot list the writers and gives the impression to the software that already is executing a shadow copy.
We execute [net stop vss] successfully and [net start vss] as well (manually).
When we execute vssadmin list writers it shows “Waiting for responses. These may be delayed if a shadow copy is being prepared.”
There we can wait forever.
The solutions given by Idera is either re register the Windows service so it starts on a fresh start or reinstall if the O.S. gives that option.
