Best SAS controller card for Seagate Cheeta 15.7 that will work with windows xp

I am looking for the best SAS controller card for Seagate Cheeta 15.7 that will work with windows XP.

Non raid.

Asus Z87-K motherboard. PCI Express 3.0/2.0 slot.

The best? Buy a brand product and you will be fine. As with most professional stuff there is no 'best' form a certain level on, they all do their job very well. Choices are made by interoperability and compatibility (when you need to migrate your RAID to a new controller).

There are not many adapters on the market, the most common is the LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-4I - this a server SAS raid controller for up to 4 disks. (I think only LSI makes internal SAS adapters nowadays, and the Intel one's may be LSI OEMs as well)

But this would be a waste of money - since you only want to connect one disk of course.
Probably take a look at something like a Adaptec 1405,  non raid 4 port.  Good OS support including XP and is relatively cheap around $150.


It does not come with cables.  There is a 1045 - same card with external port.

There are a few other non RAID cards,  though any RAID card is a bout double the money and as helgeoo said,  would be a waste.
