Mounting an Exhchange Database

Hello,

I recently had a Win 2k8 R2 server with Exchange 2k10 crash on me.  I have a database that is in a dirty shutdown state.  I managed to get the DB into a clean shutdown state but I am still unable to mount the database.

The previous server (domain) was ABConline.net, upon rebuilding the server it is now ABConline.local.  I believe this change is prohibiting me from being able to mount the DB.  I have read that I may need to used ADSIedit to change the LegacyDN attribute.  I have tried to do this but was still unable to mount the DB.

I am unsure I used the correct information for the LegacyDN value.  Looking for any advice or help in getting this DB mounted.

Thanks

I tried moving the log files.

This is the error message I receive when the log files are in the original location

When you say "The previous server (domain) was ABConline.net", do you mean that Exchange 2010 was running on the only Domain Controller for the domain "ABConline.net"?

In other words, losing the server you've lost also the domain?

If this is the case, you have two options:

1. Restore the server from backup; that will restore Active Directory. Without the existing AD, you cannot restore the Exchange, or use database portability and mount the DB on a different Exchange server.
2. User a 3rd party software package and export the mailboxes to PST.

Best Regards,

:)

Yes Exchange 2010 was running on the only DC for the domain abconline.net.  So only option is to use 3rd party software now?

If you have a backup, you can try restoring from backup. Otherwise, your only choice is 3rd party software.

Thank you.  Had to get a third-party software application and cut out PSTs
