Issues setting up office 365 with 1&1

We have tried to add the cname and mx record to 1&1 for the domain but we cannot get the cname autodiscover to work.

We have tired to setup outlook locally with outlook.office365.com but it just comes up with Microsoft exchange server unavailable.

Any Ideas?

Why not set your nameservers to point to Office 365, so that Microsoft handles all the DNS records instead of trying to set them up manually yourself?

We sorted it in the end by adding a CNAME subdomain in the 1&1 DNS control panel for autodiscover.x.com, and pointing it to autodiscover.outlook.com

Thanks
