Setting up Google Drive as a backup drive

Hello, I am in the process of setting up a Google apps Google drive for laptop users that work offsite as their backup....I will have a drive set on each laptop but my dilemma is what software to use to automate this process ... I wanted something that would allow me to choose witch folders to backup .....  I heard about Duplicati free app but I wanted some feedback from techs that have use different software to do this task.... I like the windows utility file history because it keeps a real time backup but I didn't see a place where I could backup to a cloud drive.... and suggestions or recommendations??  Also I have about 5 Mac's that need this too

you can simply use the Google drive tool to upload data here is the link for download :


you have to just share user name and password.

there is many other options you can use them as per your requirement.

It's important to note that Google Drive is a sync tool.  If your laptop users are working on documents and save them in the Google Drive folder on the laptop, all work will sync to Google Drive in the cloud.

Of course, if they overwrite a file or accidentally delete the file, that error will also sync.

If you want to use Google Drive as a backup for local data, users would need to save their work elsewhere on the local disk.  A script or utility could then backup the local data to a file in the Google Drive folder, which would then sync.

Using Google Drive for working data syncs for better access, assuming that Drive is your primary file storage.  It is not a backup solution in and of itself.

Yes the plan is to use as a backup of local data and have some tool sync the local data to the Google drive..... I wanted a tool like windows file history but having a hard time finding something like that.... any suggestions
