If you have an enterprise version of SQL, you can take a snapshot against the mirrored database and query it.

Database mirroring or log shipping setup from main to DR server.
(Enterprise version required) to create a snapshot from the database that is in recovery mode on the local sql server.

In the absence of that backing up/restoring the database as part of the reporting might be the only option or creating a read only snapshot using the backup file.
Use login transfer scripts to create the same database logins with the same SIDS on the DR site so that when you restore the DB from backup the same access for the same users that exists on the main server will exist on this one.
