How to rename a theme

Please cam you advise how I rename a theme in wordpress? I have changed the name of the folder containing the theme and the name in style.css and this changes the theme name in the admin panel. However when i go into pages like settings in the admin panel the theme name is the old one. For example it says old_theme: template options, old_theme_name: colours etc. Naturally i would like to see the new theme name here

Sounds like you've got the name stuck in the database under your old theme.  Try activating another theme in its place and then reactivating the one you want (if, you are absolutely sure you have correctly and accurately correct the name in style.css)

Have a look through the functions.php file as well. Often the theme name will be used in there. It could also be used in any file from your theme, so you could try a search and replace across all of your theme files (make a backup first!)
