Automate extracting, cropping, outputting individual .pngs from large PDF documents

I have multiple 300+ page PDFs that are published every 2 months.  About 80% of the pages do not change between publication cycles. The 20% of the pages that do change need to be extracted, cropped and output to individual .png files. Every page includes the month and year that the page was last revised in the lower left corner of the page, so it is easy to identify the changed pages by searching for pages that have the latest month/year on the page (ie., a single search for August 2013 would bring up all the changed pages for the August print cycle). In terms of cropping, all pages would be cropped identically.

I am looking for a way to automate this process in either Acrobat Pro or Enfocus Pitstop: searching for changed pages using search term "month year", crop, extract pages into individual pdf files, export as .png. Would this be possible?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I'm not sure what's possible in Pitstop, but in acrobat pro you can set up actions (Tools Palette -> Action Wizard) which will automate some tasks. One of the options is to include javascript, which would be the only potential way to find the pages you are after. I have not done this myself, but this would be a good place to start -

The other things you want to do, cropping, extracting and exporting as PNG are all available as action steps, so only the searching for pages which meet your criteria part might need to be done with Javascript.
