we work with windows server 2008 R2 datacenter, we installed a time ago the service "windows search service".

We want to make an index, so that people can search fast on out file server.

But we encounterd the problem, that a lot of files, are "read only" after, we can"t change them anymore.... (example: word document = read only)

anyone had the same problem? a solution for this problem? do we have to add another service for fast search on the file server?

As far as i know, there isn't a known issue with windows search. Yes, i heard from people that the search doesn't work in some cases but not anything about the read-only issues.

It seems some thing else is causing your issue. Are there any errors or warnings in event log?

Have a look at this read-only issues but not related to search service. This can be removed by various procedures.
