Backup Exec DB migration from SQLExpress to full SQL server

Hi Experts,

We are using backup exec 2012. Win2008 STD.
But the SQL instance is on SQLExpress and full, has more than 4GB.
I have another full SQL Server but how can I easily migrate the DB to the SQL server ?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You may be able to do it if you have a separate instance installed just for BE on the SQL server. This is still the recommended configuration for the database. Below is the link for moving it, but from what I have heard, people have had mixed results in trying this from SQLExpress to full SQL.

Here is a Symantec forum where the same question was posted.

The way we did it at my last company was to create CName Records to point AppName at server A. Then if we wanted to move AppName to Server B we changed the DNS record.

Then from there, we did a SQL Express backup and did a restore.

Don't forget about the sp_help_revlogin restore as well.
